Real Madrid strengthen ahead of El Clásico as key players return from injury, while Barcelona face growing uncertainty with Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Olmo all doubtful for the Bernabéu clash.
With less than two weeks until the first El Clasico of the season, fortunes couldn’t be more different for Spain’s football giants. While Real Madrid are gradually returning to full strength, Barcelona are facing an injury crisis that’s causing serious concern at Camp Nou.
For Real Madrid, the picture is bright. After six months out, Ferland Mendy has finally returned to training, and Kylian Mbappé is expected to recover fully from his ankle injury in time for the clash with Barcelona. Head coach Xabi Alonso could also have Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dani Carvajal available, giving Los Blancos a major boost for the high-stakes derby.
On the other hand, Hansi Flick is battling problems on multiple fronts. Raphinha’s injury has turned out to be more serious than first thought, casting doubt over his participation in El Clasico. Meanwhile, Robert Lewandowski has been ruled out entirely, leaving Barcelona without their most experienced striker.
Dani Olmo’s fitness also remains in question, though Ferran Torres has returned to action and Lamine Yamal rejoined team training this week. However, Joan Garcia and Gavi remain long-term absentees, and the Catalans are desperate to avoid further setbacks in their upcoming matches against Girona and Olympiacos.
After eight rounds, Real Madrid sit top of the La Liga table, two points ahead of defending champions Barcelona. With the Bernabéu showdown fast approaching, the pressure is mounting — and right now, all signs point to Madrid having the upper hand.
