Swedish international Emil Forsberg ended his nine-year stint with RB Leipzig in January this year.
The 32-year-old then moved to New York Red Bulls, playing in the American MLS for three million euros. Forsberg’s contract with the team runs until the end of 2026. However, the changes in his life didn't stop there.
After moving to the US, Forsberg suddenly lost contact with his wife and children. Privately, Forsberg is married to Shanga Forsberg. She began to suspect infidelity, and her suspicions were confirmed. On Wednesday, June 5, she released a statement detailing the affair.
"I clearly saw it. Now I am sure that you were seeing another woman when I was pregnant with our second child. When our baby was born, you became even closer to her," she wrote on X.
Shanga Forsberg revealed that Forsberg’s new partner is Fanny Ernestam, a former Swedish athlete who had to halt her career due to eating disorders and is now a 26-year-old model. "Congratulations Fanny, good luck with your new boyfriend! I hope after 19 years he doesn’t do the same to you, but who knows?" Shanga posted.
Later in the post, Forsberg’s wife declared that she considers her marriage to the footballer over.
"For me, this means the end of my marriage to Emil Forsberg. No one thought he was capable of something like this. I didn’t dare to think that he might be cheating and leading a double life. I loved you more than anything and always supported you. But even love has limits. My greatest love is my children, and I want them to know how precious they are," she emphasized.
Emil and Shanga Forsberg were in a relationship for 19 years, often considered by the media as the "perfect couple." They formalized their relationship in 2016 and have two daughters. The 32-year-old Swede has had a long career in the Bundesliga, playing for Malmo in his home country before joining Leipzig.
