Enzo Fernandez has become Manchester City's most expensive player ever, and his move to the Etihad begins another chapter for his long-term partner Valentina Cervantes.

Enzo Fernandez has completed his spectacular £125m move to Manchester City, becoming the most expensive player in the club's history – but the Argentine will not be making the move north alone.
The midfielder will be accompanied by his long-term partner Valentina Cervantes, who has followed Fernandez's career from Argentina to Portugal and then England as his rise took him from promising youngster to World Cup winner and one of football's most expensive players.
After completing his City transfer, Fernandez promised supporters that his relentless approach would not change. " I could not be happier to be here, and I am ready for the challenge of helping City continue winning trophies. This is a club built for success."
" I pride myself on continuously improving my game. Anyone who's worked with me will know how hard I train every single day and how much I put into matches. I give absolutely everything, and I can promise Manchester City that I will continue now that I'm here."
Who is Valentina Cervantes?
Valentina, 25, has been alongside Fernandez through much of his remarkable journey. Reports in Argentina claim the couple met while she was studying to become an English teacher, before moving abroad together as Fernandez's career accelerated.
They had already started a family by the time Fernandez joined Benfica and now have two children. Valentina was also alongside him during the greatest moment of his international career when Argentina became world champions.
After posing alongside Fernandez and the World Cup trophy, she wrote: " World Champions! I have no words to describe this moment, proud of you and everything you have achieved. I love you to infinity."
A relationship that has repeatedly made headlines
The couple announced their separation in October 2024 after six years together, although reports emerged several months later that they were attempting to rebuild their relationship.
Argentine journalist Daniel Fava claimed at the time that Fernandez wanted to win Valentina back after hearing that another Argentina international had shown an interest in her. Fava also alleged that several footballers had contacted Cervantes on social media following the separation.
Their private life returned to the headlines when Argentine media reported that Wanda Nara, who was hosting Celebrity MasterChef while Cervantes appeared as a contestant, had allegedly sent Fernandez a flirtatious message.
Reporter Santiago Sposato claimed the message read: " I just saw you around the neighborhood; write to me if you want." According to the report, Fernandez showed the message to Valentina instead of responding.
Cervantes, however, publicly denied knowing anything about such an exchange. She said: " Yes, I saw it. No, as far as I know, I haven't seen any messages. No, no, Enzo never spoke to me about anything. But he never spoke to me about any of that."
Now attention returns to Manchester. Fernandez begins life as City's record signing after his £125m transfer from Chelsea, while Valentina and their family prepare for another move – and another chapter in a journey that has already taken them from Argentina to Lisbon, London and now Manchester.
