Ethan Nwaneri continues to capture the headlines as the 17-year-old Arsenal prodigy scored in his second Premier League start, proving to be a worthy replacement for the injured Bukayo Saka. Trusted by manager Mikel Arteta despite his youth, Nwaneri repaid the faith with another stellar performance in Arsenal's clash against Brighton.
Nwaneri's rise to stardom
The young forward opened the scoring in the 17th minute with a brilliant solo run and finish inside the penalty area, assisted by Mikel Merino. His goal gave Arsenal a 1-0 lead at halftime. Impressively, this was his fifth senior goal in just over 400 minutes of play for the club, highlighting his remarkable efficiency.
Nwaneri’s journey to the Arsenal first team began in the club's youth academy, where he has been developing since 2015. He has also been a standout for England's U19 national team, serving as a key attacking weapon.
Arsenal’s future star
The injury to star winger Bukayo Saka initially raised concerns among Arsenal fans, but Nwaneri has stepped in seamlessly. His performances suggest Arteta was right to entrust the teenager with a critical role in an Arsenal side chasing the Premier League title. The Gunners currently sit second in the table, trailing leaders Liverpool.
With his 18th birthday approaching in late March, Nwaneri is expected to receive a new contract and a significant pay rise, securing his future at the Emirates.
