Croatia faces Italy in a crucial match for a spot in the Euro 2024 Round of 16. Italian legend Fabio Capello warns that Croatia remains a formidable opponent.
Croatia is set to secure crucial points for advancing to the Round of 16 in the European Championship against Italy.
Fabio Capello previewed the key clash between Croatia and Italy for Gazzetta dello Sport, focusing on the Croatian national team and delivering a strong message. Contrary to the growing criticisms, Capello insists that the Vatreni are not on their last legs but are the most dangerous possible opponents:
"Against Croatia, we are deciding our future. Many say this team is at the end of its cycle. Do you know what I see instead? I see champions backed into a corner, and they are the worst possible opponents. Croatia is not accidentally a team that has historically troubled us. The danger lies in the midfield: Modrić, Brozović, Kovačić…
"They may not be as quick as the Spaniards, but they are technically their equals. We must learn from our mistakes against the Spaniards, change our defensive patterns, play wider with more positional changes. Our fate is in our hands, but beware of their desire for revenge," Capello concluded.
