Fenerbahce, managed by Jose Mourinho, is interested in signing Croatian midfielder Mateo Kovačić from Manchester City, but the player's willingness to move to Istanbul is uncertain.
Despite signing him only a year ago, Manchester City might face the prospect of selling Mateo Kovačić, as reported by Turkish and English media. Fenerbahce, led by the legendary Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho, is looking to strengthen its midfield and has set its sights on the Premier League, a division Mourinho knows very well.
According to Turkish media outlet Fotomac, relayed by Turkish-Football.com, Mourinho has identified the need for midfield reinforcements for the upcoming season and is now focusing on Kovačić.
Mourinho, a well-known admirer of Kovačić's skills and contributions, sees the Croatian international as a key addition to his squad. However, with Kovačić still having three years left on his current contract with City, his interest in the move remains unclear.
Kovačić is expected to be one of the two Manchester City stars from the recent Euros to participate in the club's pre-season tour in the United States later this month, following Croatia's exit in the group stage. The other star, Joško Gvardiol, is also anticipated to join Pep Guardiola's squad after spending much of his summer vacation along the US East Coast, providing much-needed defensive depth for Manchester City.
Additionally, the arrival of the highly exciting Savi from ESTAC Troyes might not be part of Manchester City's pre-season tour due to his required rest period but could return to City's academy before the FA Community Shield against Manchester United.
