Fenerbahçe have initiated talks to sign David De Gea as a replacement for Dominik Livaković, who may leave the club for €10 million this summer.
Fenerbahçe are already making moves in the transfer market as they prepare for possible changes between the posts. With Dominik Livaković linked with a summer exit—reportedly for a fee of around €10 million—the club has begun identifying replacements. One name emerging strongly is David De Gea.
According to reports from Turkey, Fenerbahçe have started initial contacts with the entourage of the 34-year-old Spanish goalkeeper, who is currently with Fiorentina. De Gea joined the Italian club in August 2024, after spending a year out of football following his departure from Manchester United. He signed a one-year contract with an option for a second, but that extension has not yet been triggered, making a summer move possible.
De Gea has delivered solid performances in Serie A, with one of his standout moments being a match against AC Milan, where he saved two penalties. His form has not gone unnoticed, with several clubs monitoring his contract situation.
A move to Turkey would be in line with a trend of experienced players heading to the Süper Lig in the twilight of their careers. High-profile names like Juan Mata, Dries Mertens, and Mauro Icardi have all opted for the Turkish league in recent years. With Fernando Muslera still a symbol of consistency at Galatasaray, Fenerbahçe are eager to respond with a marquee signing of their own.
Should the deal go through, De Gea would arrive as a player of proven pedigree, capable of making an immediate impact. His leadership and vast experience in top-level football could provide the stability Fenerbahçe need to mount a serious domestic title challenge.
