According to reports from transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Monaco is now the destination and the agreement is reportedly close to completion.
The development comes as a surprise because Leverkusen had reportedly identified Filipe Luis as one of its preferred options.
German reports suggested talks had already started and that the Brazilian coach had moved ahead of other candidates.
