Fiorentina have completed one of the biggest deals of the Italian summer transfer window after reaching an agreement with Udinese for the signing of French midfielder Arthur Atta.

According to reports in Italy, the 23-year-old is scheduled to undergo his medical today before signing his contract with the Florence club.

A club-record investment

The total value of the transfer is expected to reach around €40 million, making Atta the most expensive signing in Fiorentina's history.

The structure of the agreement is unusual.

Fiorentina will initially pay €25 million to acquire 70 percent of the player's economic rights, while Udinese will retain a 30 percent share of any future transfer fee.

The arrangement allows Fiorentina to reduce the immediate financial burden while allowing Udinese to benefit from a future sale if Atta moves to an even bigger club.

Paratici finally lands his long-time target

Italian media report that sporting director Fabio Paratici played a decisive role in completing the transfer.

Paratici has admired Atta for several years and first attempted to sign him during his time at Tottenham. This time, he successfully beat the competition from several clubs in Italy and England.

According to reports, Atta will earn around €1.3 million net per season under his new contract.

Rapid rise in Serie A

The French midfielder developed through the youth systems of Rennes and Metz before establishing himself at Udinese.

He made 63 appearances across Serie A and the Coppa Italia, scoring six goals and providing four assists.

Before Atta's arrival, Fiorentina's record signing was Nicolás González, who joined from Stuttgart for around €27 million in 2021.

The Viola has once again demonstrated their ambitions. After spending €25 million on striker Roberto Piccoli last summer, the club has now invested almost €80 million on new signings during the current transfer window.
