Jorginho is expected to leave Arsenal at the end of the season. Flamengo leads the race for his signature, ahead of Saudi side Neom, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Flamengo continues to be the leading candidate to sign Jorginho from Arsenal, as the midfielder’s contract expires this June and a departure from Europe looks increasingly likely.
According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Flamengo has already submitted a formal proposal for the Italian international. The Brazilian giants are confident they can land the former Chelsea and Napoli star on a free transfer.
"Jorginho is still expected to leave Arsenal as a free agent at the end of the season," Romano reported. "Flamengo has already made their offer to the player. No talks are ongoing with Neom FC from Saudi Arabia."
No Saudi move—for now
Although Saudi club Neom FC is reportedly preparing a big-spending summer, Romano confirmed that no official negotiations have taken place between Jorginho and the club. Neom is preparing for promotion to the Saudi Pro League, but for now, Flamengo remains the clear favorite to secure the midfielder’s signature.
Jorginho has made 30 appearances across all competitions this season for Arsenal but has not been offered a contract extension. After nearly a decade in England and Italy, the 32-year-old could be headed back to South America for the first time in his senior career.
