Flamengo director Jose Boto openly invited Vinicius Junior back to Brazil, hinting at a free transfer scenario while the Real Madrid star weighs Europe against Saudi Arabia.
Vinicius Junior remains one of the biggest unanswered questions on the transfer market. His future at Real Madrid stays unresolved, with contract talks dragging on and outside interest growing.
The Brazilian winger remains tied to Real until 2027. With only limited time left on his deal, uncertainty continues to follow one of world football’s most decisive attackers.
While Saudi Arabia pushes hard with financial power, an unexpected voice has entered the conversation. Flamengo sporting director Jose Boto openly addressed the possibility of bringing Vinicius back to Brazil.
Boto, formerly in charge at Osijek, spoke publicly about the player who left Flamengo for Real Madrid in 2018 for 45 million euros.
"Vinicius’ contract is expiring. He recently sent me a signed jersey as a gift. Players like him arrive only if they want to. Our doors are always open for him. Everything depends on him. We are speaking about the summer when his contract ends, because then he would arrive as a free agent," Boto said.
Flamengo acknowledge the financial reality. A market-price transfer for Vinicius sits far beyond reach. A free transfer stands as the only realistic path.
The Brazilian giants have shown ambition in recent weeks. Flamengo confirmed the signing of Lucas Paqueta for 42 million euros, underlining a strategy built on star power and bold statements.
For now, Vinicius keeps all options open. Europe, Saudi Arabia, or a stunning homecoming to the club where his story began all remain on the table.
