Florentino Perez praised Luka Modrić during Real Madrid’s Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund, calling the veteran midfielder "incredible" for his consistent performances.
Luka Modrić, at 39 years old, continues to impress in Real Madrid’s Champions League campaign. During their dramatic 3-2 comeback win against Borussia Dortmund, Modrić played 71 minutes, contributing to the turnaround led by a hat-trick from Vinicius Junior.
Spanish outlet Marca rated Modrić’s performance a 7, with only Vinicius (10), Jude Bellingham (9), and Kylian Mbappe (8) receiving higher scores. Modrić shared the same rating as several teammates, including Thibaut Courtois, Lucas Vazquez, Federico Valverde, and Rodrygo. He also became the oldest player in Real Madrid’s history to feature in a Champions League match.
As Modrić exited the pitch, more than 70,000 fans at the Santiago Bernabéu gave him a standing ovation, which was watched from the VIP box by club president Florentino Perez.
"Modrić is incredible. He never gets tired of winning. He keeps playing like he’s 20 years old," Perez reportedly said, according to Defensa Central, when seeing Modrić in the starting lineup. The Croatian midfielder extended his contract with Madrid until June 2025 and has already accumulated 660 minutes this season across 14 appearances, providing three assists.
