Florian Wirtz has reportedly given Bayern Munich his word that he will join them — if not this summer, then next — forcing Bayer Leverkusen into a difficult transfer dilemma.
Florian Wirtz, one of the hottest names in European football, has reportedly made a private agreement with Bayern Munich to join the club — whether in the upcoming transfer window or the next. According to BILD, Bayern have already reached a verbal agreement with the player or his entourage, securing a guarantee that the 22-year-old German international will prioritise a move to Bavaria over other suitors.
This development comes as a major blow to Bayer Leverkusen, who are already bracing for the confirmed departure of head coach Xabi Alonso. The Bundesliga champions now face the very real risk of losing their biggest star as well, potentially triggering a major squad reshuffle.
With Wirtz reportedly committed to Bayern — even if the move is delayed until 2026 — Leverkusen must now weigh the pros and cons of keeping a player who is already mentally aligned with a domestic rival. The alternative: cash in this summer.
Wirtz, valued at around €140 million, is also being monitored by Manchester City, who are planning for life after Kevin De Bruyne, and Chelsea, known for splashing out on top young talent. However, the German midfielder’s preference appears to be clear — Bayern first.
If the reports are accurate, Bayern have taken a big step toward securing the Bundesliga’s brightest talent, while Leverkusen may now be forced into a summer sale to avoid further disruption heading into next season.
