Former Hajduk and Istra 1961 coach Paolo Tramezzani has been appointed head coach of Como Women, marking his first managerial role in women’s football.
Paolo Tramezzani, the 55-year-old Italian coach and former manager of Hajduk Split and Istra 1961, has taken on a new challenge. He has been officially appointed head coach of Como Women, signing a one-and-a-half-year contract.
This marks Tramezzani’s first managerial role in women’s football.
New challenge in Serie A
Tramezzani arrives at Como after Stefano Sottili was dismissed following a run of poor results. After 13 rounds, the team sits eighth in the women’s Serie A Femminile standings.
The appointment represents Tramezzani’s return to coaching after around six months away from the game, following his departure from Cyprus. The move has already attracted attention across football circles and specialist platforms such as bizbet, which closely follow managerial changes across European leagues.
From Hajduk to Como
Tramezzani took charge of Hajduk in January 2021 and led the Split club until the end of the season. Under his guidance, the team produced a series of strong performances, with many supporters later viewing his departure as a missed opportunity for the club. In his final six matches on the Hajduk bench, he recorded five wins and one draw, the latter against Dinamo Zagreb.
After leaving Split, Tramezzani went on to coach Saudi side Al Faisaly, as well as Swiss outfit Sion on two separate occasions.
In February 2024, he was appointed head coach of Istra 1961, where he again made a positive impact and lifted the team’s performances. At the end of the season, however, he accepted an offer from Yverdon Sport. He began the current campaign with Cypriot club AEL Limassol, but was dismissed after just four matches following a heavy 5–0 defeat to Omonia Nicosia.
Club statement: experience the key factor
Como Women confirmed the appointment in an official statement. “We have appointed a coach with extensive experience to lead our team at an important stage of the season. The club’s decision reflects our desire to rely on a strong coaching profile, accustomed to working in multicultural environments,” the club said.
