Kheira Hamraoui, ex-PSG footballer, reacted to PSG's Champions League elimination by Borussia Dortmund, calling it "divine justice" after her tumultuous stint with the club.
Kheira Hamraoui, a former PSG player, 'celebrated' the French team's elimination from the Champions League this Tuesday.
PSG lost at Parc des Princes to Borussia Dortmund 1-0 last night, with the only goal scored by Mats Hummels in the 50th minute. Dortmund advanced with a 2-0 aggregate to play in the Champions League final on June 1st at Wembley against either Real Madrid or Bayern Munich (the first match in Munich ended 2-2).
While Paris mourns the elimination, confident of reaching the final, the PSG defeat was even welcomed by former player Kheira Hamraoui. "Divine justice," she wrote, although she later decided to delete the post which had already gone viral.
It is worth noting that Hamraoui's time at PSG did not leave her with fond memories. In 2021, she was attacked by a group of men after a team dinner, suffering injuries that sidelined her for six months. In 2022, she was again embroiled in controversy after a disagreement with several teammates during training, leading to her removal from the team.
"I am closing the most painful chapter of my career. Despite two years of a hellish storm at a club that marginalized me, abandoned me, and did everything to make me leave, I managed to cope with this pressure on a daily basis," she said upon her departure from Paris.
The 34-year-old midfielder is currently playing for America in Mexico, having previously played for Barcelona, Lyon, and St. Etienne.
