Udinese is set to reinforce its defense with highly-rated Argentine center-back Valentín Gómez, who arrives after winning the league with Vélez Sarsfield.
Udinese is set to bolster its defense for the remainder of the season with one of Argentina's most promising center-backs, Valentín Gómez, who will partner Jaka Bijol at the heart of the Friuli club's defense.
Gómez, a key figure in Vélez Sarsfield's championship-winning squad, is making the move to Serie A, carrying a strong reputation as a rising defensive talent from South America. Argentine media report that the 21-year-old's transfer follows an unconventional path—his contract was purchased by an investment fund, which will loan him to Udinese for six months, with an option to extend for an additional year.
The investment group behind the move is reportedly led by Foster Gillett, son of former Liverpool owner George Gillett, who has been making waves in Argentina as a business partner of Estudiantes, rapidly turning the club into a major force in the local transfer market.
Initially, Gillett aimed to bring Gómez to Estudiantes, but the young defender was determined to pursue his career in Europe, leading to the deal with Udinese.
