Liverpool could soon welcome one of the richest investors on the planet. According to reports from British media, Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon and currently the world's fourth-richest person, has held talks about joining a consortium interested in investing in the Premier League giants.

Bezos' personal fortune is estimated at around $257 billion, making him one of the wealthiest people in history. While he has invested in a wide range of industries, football has never been one of his major business interests. That could now be changing.

The investment group is reportedly being led by businessman Amit Bhatia, the son-in-law of Indian steel billionaire Lakshmi Mittal. Bhatia is already well known in English football through his involvement with Queens Park Rangers.

Although discussions have taken place, there is currently no agreement between Bezos and the consortium. His participation in the project remains uncertain, with negotiations still at an early stage.

The possibility of new investment emerged after reports that Liverpool's owners, Fenway Sports Group (FSG), are open to selling a minority stake in the club while retaining overall control.

According to financial estimates, Liverpool is currently valued at approximately $6.2 billion, making it one of the most valuable football clubs in the world. Any investment would therefore rank among the biggest deals in football history.

John Henry and Tom Werner, through FSG, have owned Liverpool since 2010. During their tenure, the club has returned to the top of English and European football, winning the Premier League, the Champions League, the FA Cup, the League Cup, the FIFA Club World Cup and several other major trophies.

The growing interest from American billionaires reflects football's increasing commercial appeal. The success of the recent 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America has only strengthened the belief among investors that the global football market still has significant room for growth.

If Bezos ultimately joins the consortium, Liverpool would gain a financial partner with resources unlike almost any other owner in world football. For now, however, the talks remain exploratory, and there is no guarantee that the deal will be completed.
