The legendary ‘Der Kaiser’ has etched his name in football history with golden letters.

He passed away in January, and UEFA will honor him before the start of the European Championship in Germany.

The European Football Association (UEFA) will pay tribute to the late legend of German football Franz Beckenbauer at the opening ceremony before Friday's match between Germany and Scotland at the Munich stadium. Heidi Beckenbauer will attend, bringing the Euro 2024 trophy onto the field accompanied by Bernard Dietz and Jürgen Klinsmann.

Dietz, Klinsmann, and Beckenbauer have all won the European Championship with Germany at different times, ensuring that all championship generations are represented at the ceremony.

As a player, the legendary Beckenbauer won the World Cup, the European Championship, two Ballon d'Or awards, and three times the predecessor of the Champions League. Later, he was also highly successful as a coach, leading Germany to a World Cup title and winning trophies with Bayern and Marseille at the club level.

He is remembered as one of the greatest, most influential, and most iconic footballers of all time, known also as a great human being.
