Frenkie de Jong will miss the European Championship in Germany due to injury.

The Netherlands have always been at least among the broader circle of favorites in major tournaments, even though they haven't been as strong in recent years. This year, they face challenges again, and many do not see them among the top national teams contending for the European Championship title at Euro 2024 in Germany.

Yesterday, the Dutch lost one of their best players. Due to an ankle injury, Barcelona's excellent midfielder Frenkie de Jong will have to stay home!

De Jong hasn't played since April, since the El Clasico against Real Madrid, and has not managed to recover from his injury. Netherlands coach Ronald Koeman had included him on the list of players for the European Championship, but it is now clear that De Jong will not participate in the Euro.

"I am disappointed. We put in a lot of work over the past weeks, but unfortunately, my ankle needs more time," De Jong announced.

Coach Ronald Koeman has criticized Barcelona, where he played decades ago and recently coached, for the situation.

"They took risks with Frenkie, and now we are facing the consequences," said the coach, who is now searching for a replacement for the injured player.
