Galatasaray are eyeing Ajax defender Josip Sutalo. The Dutch club are reportedly ready to sell the Croatian for €20 million as they seek funds for summer reinforcements.
Josip Sutalo has emerged as a potential transfer target for Galatasaray, with Turkish outlet Fotospor reporting that Ajax would allow the Croatian defender to leave for €20 million—the same fee they paid Dinamo Zagreb two years ago.
According to the report, Galatasaray coach Okan Buruk is an admirer of Sutalo, who could become part of the club’s summer transfer strategy. Although reinforcing the defence is not the club’s top priority, Buruk reportedly wants to strengthen his options at centre-back and sees the 25-year-old as a reliable man-marker.
Ajax are understood to be willing to sell as they aim to generate funds and create space in the squad for incoming transfers. The Dutch giants had a disappointing 2023/24 season and are expected to undergo a significant rebuild in the coming months.
Galatasaray are not alone in their defensive search, with local reports also linking the club—and rivals Trabzonspor—to Ahmetcan Kaplan, suggesting that Buruk is keen to increase competition at the back ahead of a busy domestic and European campaign.
Whether Gala are ready to meet Ajax’s valuation remains to be seen, but with Sutalo reportedly not indispensable in Amsterdam, a summer departure could be on the cards.
