Georgina Rodríguez arrived in New York ahead of the Met Gala, fuelling speculation about a return after last year’s criticised debut look sparked mixed reactions.
Georgina Rodríguez, partner of Cristiano Ronaldo, has arrived in New York City, sparking strong speculation about a return to the Met Gala.
The 32-year-old influencer has not confirmed her attendance, but her recent social media activity has raised expectations. Her manager, Ramón Jordana, posted a skyline view featuring the Empire State Building, while Rodríguez shared a selfie from a private jet.
The timing of those posts has led many to link her trip with fashion’s biggest night, especially with Jordana often handling logistics for her high-profile appearances.
Her possible return comes after a debut that divided opinion.
Rodríguez wore a design by Demna Gvasalia, inspired by Princess Diana’s 1996 Met Gala look. The outfit combined elements from ten tailored jackets into a single flowing piece, designed to match the theme focused on tailoring and Black style.
Despite the concept, many critics failed to connect with the execution. Social media reactions were harsh, with some comparing the look to sleepwear rather than high fashion.
This year presents a new opportunity. The theme “Costume Art” and the dress code “Fashion Is Art” could suit Rodríguez’s style if she balances luxury with more experimental choices.
The 2026 event will be led by high-profile co-chairs including Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and Anna Wintour, with Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Bezos serving as honorary chairs.
With the event approaching, attention now shifts to whether Rodríguez will appear again and deliver a look strong enough to change the narrative after last year’s criticism.
