Donnarumma, who has been in stellar form for both club and country, took a moment to reflect on his relationship with Mihajlovic, describing him as a "second father." The late Serbian coach gave Donnarumma his first professional opportunity at AC Milan when he was just 16 years old.
"For me, Sinisa was like a second father, both in football and in life. He gave me an opportunity in Milan when I was just 16, and that's something you never forget," said Donnarumma.
The 23-year-old shot-stopper also spoke about Roberto Mancini, the former Italy manager who recently took charge of the Saudi Arabian national team. Donnarumma expressed gratitude for the history they made together, including their European Championship win, despite failing to qualify for the upcoming World Cup.
"Nobody expected Mancini's resignation. We talked; I thanked him because we made history. Unfortunately, we didn't qualify for the World Cup, which is a failure, but we won the European Championship, and that will stay forever," Donnarumma concluded.
