It's now official! Serbian strategist Ivan Jovanović will become the new head coach of Greece.

This information has been reported by several Greek media outlets, which state that the former Panathinaikos coach has reached an agreement with the Greek Football Association. The former Rad player, and later coach of Cypriot APOEL and Greek clubs Volos and Iraklis, Ivan Jovanović will sign a two-year contract.

Jovanović will succeed Uruguayan Gustavo Poyet, who failed to lead the team to EURO 2024. The Greeks lost to Georgia in the playoffs. Jovanović is expected to make his debut on the Greek bench on September 7th against Finland, in the first round of the Nations League. His rivals there will also include the Republic of Ireland and England.

Jovanović's task is to lead Greece to the World Cup, where they last appeared in 2014 in Brazil.
