Antoine Griezmann will remain at Atlético Madrid for the 2024/25 season, delaying his expected move to MLS despite ongoing speculation.
Atlético Madrid legend Antoine Griezmann has decided to stay with the club for another season, extending his journey at the Wanda Metropolitano and delaying a potential move to Major League Soccer.
At 34, Griezmann remains one of the driving forces in Diego Simeone’s side, having scored 16 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions this season—more than any outfield player, with only Jan Oblak playing more minutes.
According to AS, the French star and the club used the international break to finalize an agreement that will keep him in Madrid until the end of the 2024/25 campaign, when his current contract expires.
Griezmann has previously expressed interest in finishing his career in MLS, following in the footsteps of compatriots like Hugo Lloris and Olivier Giroud, but his current form suggests that the time for that transition hasn’t arrived just yet.
Meanwhile, Spanish media reports indicate that Atlético are already planning for life after Griezmann, with Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyökeres identified as a potential long-term replacement.
