Manchester City is saying goodbye to the outstanding Argentine striker, who is set to join Atletico Madrid. Under coach Pep Guardiola, Julian Alvarez's name will be written in golden letters.

Although Julian Alvarez has not yet officially become a member of Atletico Madrid, it's only a matter of time, as confirmed by Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola. The Spanish club will pay a hefty sum for the Argentine forward, who has contributed 36 goals and 18 assists in 103 appearances for the English champions.

Pep Guardiola shared that he has learned a lot as a coach from the 24-year-old, and it’s clear that Alvarez will always hold a special place in his memories.

“First, I want to express my gratitude to Julian. We won everything together, and his contribution was extraordinary. We all love him, and he got along well with everyone. He wanted a new challenge; Atletico is a big club, and I hope he finds what he’s looking for. I learned a lot from him, and I wish him the best of luck,” said Guardiola.

Alvarez spent two seasons at City, having previously shined at Argentine giant River Plate. However, he didn’t have a guaranteed spot in City’s starting eleven, which is often the case under Pep Guardiola's management. On paper, he seems like an excellent addition for Atletico Madrid and coach Diego Simeone.

Alvarez is also a key player for Argentina, having scored nine goals in 36 appearances and was part of the squad that won the World Cup.
