Erling Haaland calls Man City’s season “terrible and boring,” stressing the importance of winning the FA Cup final to avoid a trophyless campaign.

Erling Haaland has described Manchester City’s current season as “terrible and boring”, admitting that the team has not lived up to its own high standards. The Premier League champions will try to end the campaign on a positive note in Saturday’s FA Cup final against Crystal Palace, which kicks off at 17:30 CET at Wembley.

“This season has been difficult. Losing so many games isn’t fun—it’s boring,” Haaland told the BBC. “That’s why we need to finish well and win a trophy. It’s a good habit to make it to Wembley, and it’s always important to win titles. We’ve reached the FA Cup final in a terrible season.”

Haaland was also blunt about the club’s ambitions. “If you win four titles in a row and don’t win the fifth, then it’s not a successful season. That’s the standard we’ve set. We didn’t manage the league well, but we’re still hoping to qualify for the Champions League.”

The 23-year-old Norwegian striker joined City from Borussia Dortmund in June 2022 for £51.2 million, and has since played a crucial role in helping the club win two Premier League titles, the Champions League, the FA Cup, and the UEFA Super Cup.

However, despite those successes, this season has fallen below expectations, with City out of the title race and looking to the FA Cup as a chance to avoid ending the year empty-handed.
