Hansi Flick commented on Real Madrid’s chaotic week before El Clásico as Barcelona prepares for a potential La Liga title celebration at Camp Nou.
Barcelona coach Hansi Flick remained calm and composed when asked about the dramatic events currently surrounding Real Madrid ahead of tomorrow’s huge El Clasico.
The German strategist appeared before the media before the biggest match of the Spanish season and was inevitably asked about the chaos unfolding in Madrid over the past week.
Reports from the Spanish capital have been dominated by stories of dressing room tensions, physical confrontations between players, disciplinary proceedings, and growing unrest inside the club.
Despite the constant headlines, Flick made it clear that he is not interested in focusing on problems inside the rival camp.
"Things like this happen everywhere in the world, not only at Real Madrid," Flick said.
"Of course, I was a little surprised by everything that was reported, but honestly, I do not care much about Real Madrid because it is not my team."
"I only think about my players, my club, and how we want to perform together on the pitch. We want to play as a unit and stay focused on ourselves."
Barcelona enter El Clasico in an excellent position.
The Catalans are leading the title race and could officially secure the new La Liga crown with a victory over their greatest rivals at Camp Nou.
Flick’s side also arrives in strong form after winning five consecutive matches in all competitions.
The atmosphere around Barcelona currently looks completely different from the one surrounding Madrid.
While Real Madrid continue dealing with internal conflicts and media leaks, Barcelona appear united and relaxed ahead of the derby.
That difference was visible even on social media this week, where Barcelona players were seen joking and smiling during training sessions.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid’s week has been filled with controversy.
The alleged dressing room clash between Federico Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni created enormous reaction in Spain after Valverde suffered a head injury that ruled him out of El Clasico.
At the same time, rumors continue regarding the futures of several key stars, including Vinicius Junior and Kylian Mbappe.
Barcelona will still have important absences of their own.
Young superstar Lamine Yamal is not expected to feature, which removes one of the team’s biggest attacking weapons for the decisive clash.
Even so, many in Spain still consider Barcelona the clear favorite because of the instability currently surrounding Real Madrid.
For Flick personally, the match represents another important moment in what has already been a highly successful first season in Spain.
The German coach recently confirmed that he intends to extend his contract with Barcelona and hopes to remain at the club long term.
If Barcelona defeats Real Madrid tomorrow night, Flick could move one step closer to ending his coaching career exactly where he wants to be, at the top of Spanish football.
