Harry Kane believes his move to Bayern Munich has elevated his game and opened the door to potentially winning the Ballon d'Or—a feat no Englishman has achieved since Michael Owen.
Harry Kane is enjoying one of the finest seasons of his career, and now the Bayern Munich striker believes the Ballon d'Or might just be within reach. With 32 goals and 11 assists in 40 appearances, and Bayern still in contention for both the Bundesliga and Champions League, the English captain has every reason to dream big.
"When you're part of a club like this, you're more recognised and respected internationally. To win the Ballon d'Or, I’d probably need to win a major trophy and score over 40 goals. I think both are possible," Kane said.
No English player has lifted football’s most prestigious individual prize since Michael Owen in 2001—something Kane is keenly aware of. And while he knows individual accolades depend on team success, his form this season has placed him firmly in the conversation.
Kane also credits his transfer to Bayern with pushing him to grow.
"Just being at Bayern motivates me to aim higher. I feel I’m growing in terms of confidence and responsibility," he added.
At 31, Kane may be playing the best football of his life—and if Bayern can deliver silverware this season, Kane might just break a two-decade English drought in the Ballon d'Or race.
