Inter captain Lautaro Martinez explained why he rates Harry Kane above Erling Haaland and reflected on his best season in football.
Lautaro Martinez has named Harry Kane as the best centre-forward in world football, placing the Bayern Munich striker ahead of Erling Haaland.
The Inter Milan captain shared his view in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport and explained why he values Kane’s complete game more than pure goalscoring numbers.
Although Haaland continues to dominate scoring charts with Manchester City, Martinez believes Kane offers more dimensions as a striker.
“Harry Kane.”
“I even put him ahead of Haaland for his ball control, his link-up play, his reading of the game and his headers.”
“A phenomenon.”
Kane has continued to strengthen his reputation since moving to Germany, combining goals with creativity and becoming one of the most complete forwards in European football.
Martinez also reflected on his own progress and believes he is currently playing the best football of his career.
The Argentine has once again been one of the leading figures for Inter this season and remains among the top scorers in Serie A.
“Certainly, because I feel very happy and confident when I play.”
“I move with great ease, even tactically. It wasn't like that before.”
Another important factor in Inter’s success has been his partnership with Marcus Thuram.
The pair have developed one of Europe’s most effective attacking combinations, and Martinez highlighted how their personalities also fit together.
“Marcus and I have slowly understood each other.”
“He’s a cheerful, special guy. I’m the serious one. We complement each other, even in terms of personality.”
Martinez has already helped Inter collect domestic silverware this season and will look to finish the campaign strongly in the final round of the league season.
His comments, though, will create debate among fans, especially those who believe Haaland remains the most dominant striker in modern football.
