Fikayo Tomori was forced off after just 15 minutes against Bologna due to a head injury, and with the cup final just days away, his status remains uncertain.
AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori suffered a worrying injury in last night’s Serie A clash against Bologna, leaving the pitch after just 15 minutes following a heavy collision that left him dizzy and struggling to see.
The 26-year-old collided awkwardly with Benjamin Dominguez while attempting to head the ball back to his goalkeeper. He fell heavily to the ground and was visibly distressed, breathing heavily and complaining of poor vision. The club’s medical team acted quickly, and coach Sergio Conceicao replaced him with Malick Thiaw as a precaution.
Tomori is now undergoing further medical tests to assess the extent of the injury, with the Italian Cup final looming on Wednesday. Milan will once again face Bologna, a side they beat 3-1 in the league thanks to goals from Christian Pulisic and Santiago Gimenez.
Tomori has been a mainstay in the Milan defence this season, making 32 appearances and starting the last six matches. His availability for the final is crucial, as Conceicao would almost certainly prefer to have him in the starting lineup for the clash at the Olimpico.
Since joining from Chelsea in 2021 for €35 million, Tomori has become one of Milan’s most reliable defenders, with 174 appearances to date. Milan will hope his condition improves rapidly in the coming days, but his inclusion remains in serious doubt pending medical clearance.
