Mirko Topić has suffered a serious ACL injury and will miss the rest of the season, delivering a major blow to Norwich and Serbia.
Mirko Topić has suffered a devastating setback, with the young Serbian midfielder ruled out for the rest of the season after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament during Norwich City’s Championship match against Oxford.
The news was confirmed by Norwich manager Philipp Clement, who expressed deep disappointment at the scale of the injury and its impact on both the player and the team.
“Really bad news. It’s an ACL injury. He will be out until the end of the season and will undergo surgery as soon as possible. This is a tough blow for him, the team and the club,” Clement told the club’s official website.
Topić joined Norwich in the summer and quickly became an important part of the rotation. He made 18 appearances in all competitions, settling into English football and showing promise as a long-term midfield option.
His absence comes at a critical moment for Norwich, who sit 23rd in the Championship table with just 10 points, fighting to avoid relegation.
The injury is equally frustrating for Topić on the international front. The 22-year-old has earned four caps for Serbia, and this season was meant to provide the continuity and stability needed for further development.
Instead, he now faces a long recovery period as he begins the road back from one of football’s most demanding injuries.
