Amid Manchester City’s struggles, Pep Guardiola leans on the unwavering support of his wife Cristina Serra, his partner of 35 years, and their three children.
Pep Guardiola, Manchester City’s legendary manager, is enduring a challenging period as his team struggles with form, currently winless in six matches, including throwing away a 3-0 lead against Feyenoord in the Champions League. However, behind the scenes, the 53-year-old Spaniard finds strength and stability from his wife of 35 years, Cristina Serra, and their family.
Guardiola first met Cristina Serra in their teenage years in Catalonia. Cristina comes from a prominent fashion family that owns the Serra Claret boutique in Barcelona, where they first crossed paths. Guardiola, then a youth footballer, was modeling for the renowned Spanish designer Antonio Miro, and the connection with Cristina was instant.
The couple finally married in 2014 in a modest ceremony at a town hall on the outskirts of Barcelona. Despite Guardiola’s global fame, Cristina remains grounded and prefers to stay out of the limelight, offering unwavering support behind the scenes.
Guardiola credits Cristina as his fashion guide, saying: "My wife is the best in the world at many things, but especially in fashion. She says, 'Don’t wear this, wear that,' and I follow her advice." The couple often celebrates Manchester City’s triumphs together, with Cristina appearing alongside Pep and their children during trophy celebrations.
The couple has three children: Maria, a model and social media influencer, Marius, and Valentina. Their family provides Guardiola with a much-needed escape from the pressures of managing one of the world’s biggest football clubs.
Guardiola has spoken about how crucial his family’s support is during challenging times, like City’s current poor run of form, which he jokingly said has driven him to scratch his face in frustration: "I want to harm myself," he quipped, before apologizing and clarifying his remarks.
Throughout Guardiola’s career, Cristina has been a steadfast presence, offering support through the highs and lows of his stints with Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and now Manchester City. Her role as his emotional rock has been vital during trying times, ensuring he remains grounded amidst the intense pressures of football management.
