Celtic suffers a humiliating 7-1 defeat to Borussia Dortmund in one of the heaviest losses in their history, ahead of their Champions League clash with Dinamo.
Celtic endured one of the heaviest defeats in their history, falling 7-1 to Borussia Dortmund in a Champions League showdown between two of Dinamo Zagreb's group rivals. The match in Germany was a nightmare for the Scottish champions, who were dismantled by Dortmund, marking one of their worst-ever losses.
Karim Adeyemi had a stellar performance, scoring a hat-trick in the first half and winning a penalty before being substituted in the 48th minute, much to the relief of the Celtic defense. By halftime, Celtic had already conceded five goals, and the rout continued with two more in the second half.
This defeat joins Celtic's list of painful losses, including a 7-0 loss to Barcelona in the 2016/17 season and a 7-1 defeat to PSG in 2017/18. This latest disaster came just after Celtic’s promising 5-1 victory over Slovan Bratislava in the first round of the Champions League group stage, only to follow it with this crushing defeat.
Dinamo Zagreb will face Celtic at Maksimir Stadium on December 10, in what is sure to be a highly anticipated encounter.
