Igor Jovićević is officially the new head coach of Ludogorets, aiming to achieve high goals with the Bulgarian club.
Igor Jovićević, the former Dinamo Zagreb manager, has been appointed as the new head coach of Ludogorets, the Bulgarian football powerhouse founded in 1945. Jovićević was officially introduced as the new manager on Thursday, the same day his fellow Croatian coach Nenad Bjelica returned to Dinamo Zagreb.
Jovićević, 50, will bring with him a team of trusted staff, including Ukrainians Andriy Hanas and Yuriy Beno, as well as Spaniards Javier Lobo and Antonio Adan, all of whom have worked with him at Dnipro-1 and Shakhtar Donetsk.
"It is a great honor to be named head coach of a club like Ludogorets. I hope we can achieve high goals, as this team has enormous potential," Jovićević stated after signing his contract, according to the club's official website.
Jovićević's previous coaching stints include managing Karpati Lviv, Celje, Dinamo Zagreb, Dnipro-1, Shakhtar Donetsk, and Al Raed in Saudi Arabia. With Ludogorets, he will also compete in the Europa League, where the Bulgarian champions suffered a 0-2 defeat to Slavia Prague in their opening match.
