With just over three weeks remaining until the first official match of the new season, Cristian Chivu’s side will test their strength on the other side of the world with three major fixtures.
First up, Inter will face Premier League powerhouses Manchester City in Hong Kong this Saturday. Following the clash against the English giants, the squad will travel to Perth, Australia, for two high-stakes friendly matches against domestic Serie A rivals AC Milan and Juventus.
Luka Topalović Continues to Fight for First-Team Spot
Among the squad traveling to Asia and Australia is Slovenian talent Luka Topalović. After finishing last season with promising appearances in Serie A (having spent most of the campaign playing in Serie C for Inter’s second team), the young midfielder has continued to impress.
While many expected Topalović to be sent out on loan for the upcoming season, head coach Cristian Chivu insisted on taking a closer look at him during the initial phase of pre-season. The youngster clearly convinced the manager with his performances, earning a spot on the plane for the global tour.
John Stones Touches Down in Milan
Meanwhile, Inter are also making huge moves in the transfer market. English defender John Stones arrived in Milan today to finalize his move from Manchester City.
Despite interest from several top European clubs—including Serie A rivals Juventus—Inter won the race for the defender's signature. Stones is set to undergo routine medical examinations before officially putting pen to paper with the Italian champions.
