John Stones is set to join Inter as a free agent, where he will reunite with former Manchester City teammate Manuel Akanji after agreeing a two-year contract.

Inter are set to strengthen their defence with one of the biggest free-agent signings of the summer after reaching an agreement with former Manchester City defender John Stones.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the experienced England international has agreed to join the Serie A giants after leaving Manchester City at the end of his contract.
The 32-year-old central defender is expected to sign a two-year contract, with the option of extending the deal for a further season. Reports in Italy claim he will earn around €8 million over the initial two-year agreement.
Stones is expected to travel to Milan in the coming days to undergo a medical examination before being officially unveiled as a new Inter player at San Siro.
The defender is currently enjoying a short break after representing England at the 2026 World Cup, where the Three Lions reached the semi-finals before being eliminated by Argentina.
Stones leaves Manchester City after an outstanding 10-year spell at the club. Since arriving in 2016, he made 295 appearances and played a crucial role in the most successful era in the club's history under Pep Guardiola.
During his time at the Etihad Stadium, Stones won multiple Premier League titles, the Champions League and several domestic trophies, earning a reputation as one of the world's finest ball-playing central defenders.
He also remains one of England's most experienced internationals, having won 94 caps and scored three goals for his country.
The move will also reunite Stones with former Manchester City teammate Manuel Akanji, who is already an important member of Inter's defence. The pair enjoyed considerable success together in Manchester and will now look to form another winning partnership in Italy.
