Inter are preparing a significant summer clear-out, moving on from experienced players as the club targets a younger, more dynamic squad for next season.
Inter are preparing for one of their biggest squad changes in recent years.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Nerazzurri leadership has decided to refresh the core of the team and move on from several experienced figures at the end of the season.
The defensive line will see the most significant changes.
Francesco Acerbi, Stefan de Vrij and Matteo Darmian are all expected to leave once their contracts expire. The club does not plan to offer extensions, choosing instead to lower the average age of the back line and inject more pace into the system.
The rebuild does not stop there.
Yann Sommer, now 37, is also heading toward the exit. Inter have already started searching for a long-term replacement, with Guglielmo Vicario of Tottenham reportedly high on the shortlist.
Midfield will also lose experience.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan is set to depart despite remaining an important figure in the dressing room. The Armenian joined Inter in 2022 after leaving Roma and has played a key tactical role over the past seasons.
This campaign alone, Mkhitaryan has made 26 appearances in all competitions, proving he still contributes consistently at 37. If confirmed, his departure would end what has become the longest club chapter of his career.
Inter’s strategy signals a shift toward a younger, more dynamic squad profile. The club aims to protect competitiveness in Serie A while building a foundation for the next cycle.
The coming months at San Siro promise decisive changes, both on the pitch and inside the dressing room.
