Arsenal are eyeing Ipswich striker Liam Delap as a cost-effective solution up front, seeing him as a cheaper alternative to Benjamin Šeško.
Arsenal have identified a potential bargain in their search for a new striker, with English media reporting serious interest in Liam Delap, the 22-year-old forward currently playing for Ipswich Town.
While Arsenal have been linked to high-profile names like Benjamin Šeško, Alexander Isak, and Viktor Gyökeres, the signing of Delap would represent a much more accessible and affordable option. Delap, who left Manchester City last summer in an €18 million deal, has quietly impressed despite Ipswich’s struggles, netting 12 goals in 34 Premier League appearances this season.
Ipswich are set to be relegated from the Premier League, triggering increased speculation over Delap’s future. The striker reportedly has a €35 million release clause, making him a significantly cheaper target than Šeško or Isak, both of whom are valued upwards of €60 million.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is eager to bolster the squad’s attacking depth after a season plagued by injuries to Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz. At times, Arteta was even forced to deploy midfielder Mikel Merino as a makeshift striker, while teenage sensation Ethan Nwaneri made an unexpected breakthrough due to the club’s injury crisis.
With Arsenal prioritizing a striker signing this summer, Delap is emerging as a candidate who could fit both the budget and the tactical system, while also adding homegrown status. His development since leaving City raises questions over whether the Premier League champions let another talented prospect slip through their fingers.
