Istra 1961 sign Tunisian defender Mohamed Nasraoui from CS Sfaxien for €350,000, making him the most expensive player in the club’s history.

Mohamed Nasraoui, a promising 22-year-old Tunisian defender, has officially joined Istra 1961, becoming the most expensive player in the Croatian club’s history. The move was confirmed on Istra’s social media, with the player penning a contract that runs until June 2029.

Nasraoui arrives from CS Sfaxien, where he made 27 appearances and scored one goal during the 2024/25 season. Standing at 187 cm, the former Tunisian youth international is valued at €700,000 on Transfermarkt.

According to Pan African Football, Istra paid €350,000 to secure the defender’s services, while Sfaxien will receive 15% of any future transfer fee—setting a new benchmark for Istra’s transfer business. For context, Ramon Mierez previously held the record when he arrived on a €250,000 loan deal in 2018, while Danijel Đurić was purchased for €200,000 earlier this year from Víkingur.

Istra sporting director Saša Bjelanović welcomed the signing with high praise:
“Mohamed is one of the most talented young defenders in Tunisia. He’s played at every youth level and already has solid senior experience,” he said. “He’s aggressive, quick, and extremely versatile—able to cover multiple roles in defense. What impressed us most was his desire to come here. He sees Istra as a stepping stone for his career.”

Nasraoui will compete for a central defensive role and is expected to be a key piece in Istra’s long-term plans as the club looks to build on recent stability in the Croatian top flight.
