Pep Guardiola could soon leave Manchester City after reports claimed the legendary coach had already decided to end his era at the club this summer.
The end of one of the greatest eras in Premier League history could now be very close.
According to journalist Jack Gaughan, widely considered one of the best-connected reporters around Manchester City, coach Pep Guardiola has already decided to leave the club at the end of the season.
"People at the Manchester City training center already know that Pep Guardiola is saying goodbye at the end of the season and that he made the decision a few weeks ago."
The report has immediately shaken City supporters, especially because Guardiola himself repeatedly hinted throughout the campaign that major decisions about his future were approaching.
Gaughan also claims many figures inside the club now expect official confirmation within the next few days.
Manchester City still have two matches remaining before the season officially ends, away against Bournemouth and at home against Aston Villa.
The club also remains in the fight for another Premier League title, meaning Guardiola’s final weeks could still end with more silverware.
However, if the departure becomes official, many expect the announcement to arrive only after City’s final match on May 24.
Attention has already started turning toward possible successors.
Former Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca, who previously worked as Guardiola’s assistant at Manchester City, has frequently been linked with the position.
Guardiola’s legacy at City is already historic regardless of what happens next.
Since arriving in Manchester, the Catalan transformed the club into one of the dominant forces in European football.
He won six Premier League titles, five League Cups, two FA Cups, and the Champions League, while redefining City’s playing style and football identity.
If this truly is the end, English football is preparing to say goodbye to one of the most influential managers the league has ever seen.
