Jack Grealish faces criticism after viral bar photos, but Gabby Agbonlahor defends him, stressing his professionalism during injury recovery.

Jack Grealish has received support from former teammate Gabby Agbonlahor after photos showed him appearing asleep at a rooftop bar in Manchester.

The England international, currently on loan at Everton from Manchester City, is out for the season with a stress fracture and continues his recovery after surgery.

Images published by The Sun showed Grealish resting in a chair at the Stories rooftop venue following time spent with friends, which quickly triggered online reaction.

Agbonlahor, speaking on talkSPORT, strongly criticized those who took and shared the photos.

"My first thoughts were: I've been in that situation. It shows the sort of people out there taking pictures and spreading them. Come on, find something better to do," he said.

He also defended Grealish’s professionalism during his recovery.

"He's been through a lot. He's dealing with a serious injury and working hard in rehab. I know what he's doing behind the scenes. He’s focused and wants to return as soon as possible."

Former Rangers striker Ally McCoist shared a similar view, pointing to the wider issue of privacy in modern football.

"It's not a great look, but what happened to privacy? Camera phones make everything public. Players cannot switch off anymore," he said.

The timing adds pressure for Grealish. He had started to regain form at Everton, recording two goals and six assists before the injury in January halted his progress.

The setback also ruled him out of England’s World Cup plans, extending a difficult period after missing Euro 2024 selection under Gareth Southgate.

With his loan spell nearing its end and his future at Manchester City unclear, Grealish is targeting a return to training in July, aiming to rebuild momentum ahead of the new season.
