Jack Grealish posed for selfies with supporters while wearing a protective boot, weeks after surgery ended his Everton loan season early due to a stress fracture.
Jack Grealish reminded Everton supporters why he became a fan favourite, stopping for selfies despite walking on crutches and wearing a protective boot.
The 30-year-old winger suffered a stress fracture in January, cutting short his season-long loan from Manchester City. Surgery followed, ruling him out for the remainder of the campaign.
Photos showed Grealish smiling with fans before carefully moving away on his crutches. The setback has not changed his connection with the club or the supporters at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
After surgery, he posted on Instagram: "Didn’t want the season to end like this, but that’s football, gutted. Surgery done and now all focus on getting back fit."
He added: "I know for sure I will come back fitter, stronger and better than before. The support I’ve had since coming to this unbelievable club has meant the world to me."
Grealish also praised his teammates and manager David Moyes, insisting he loves representing the club and will back the squad until his return.
During his spell, he made 22 appearances in all competitions. He scored two goals and delivered six assists in 20 Premier League matches, plus two outings in the EFL Cup.
Even from the sidelines, he stays engaged. After Everton beat Newcastle United 3 2 at St James’ Park, he praised Jordan Pickford for what he called the save of the season.
His future beyond this season remains undecided, but his affection for Everton leaves the door open for further talks once he returns to full fitness.
