Jack Grealish confirmed his season is over after surgery on a stress fracture, leaving Everton without one of its key attacking players for the remainder of the campaign.
Jack Grealish confirmed his 2025/26 season ended after undergoing surgery to repair a stress fracture in his foot, dealing a major blow to Everton during the closing months of the campaign.
The 30-year-old, currently on loan from Manchester City, had become a popular figure at Goodison Park, contributing two goals and six assists in the Premier League before the injury was discovered during medical checks.
Manager David Moyes explained that the issue surfaced unexpectedly while the club assessed what initially appeared to be a minor calf problem.
"It is a blow to lose him. We thought it was only a knock to the calf, but tests showed a stress fracture in the foot. It is disappointing because he had been enjoying his football and the supporters have taken to him," Moyes said.
Grealish later shared a message from the hospital after the operation.
" I did not want the season to end like this, but the surgery is done, and my focus is on coming back fitter, stronger, and better. The support from the club, teammates, and fans has meant everything to me," he wrote.
The injury creates uncertainty around his future. Everton holds an option to purchase the midfielder for around 50 million pounds this summer, though club officials indicated that decisions about the transfer will come later.
In the meantime, Everton added attacking cover during the winter window, signing Tyrique George on loan from Chelsea for the remainder of the season.
