Jack Wilshere becomes interim head coach of Norwich City and will face former Arsenal teammate Aaron Ramsey, now interim boss at Cardiff City, in final Championship games.
Jack Wilshere has officially stepped into the head coach role at Norwich City, taking charge on an interim basis for the club’s final two Championship fixtures after the sacking of Johannes Thorup.
The 32-year-old former Arsenal and England midfielder was previously serving as Thorup’s assistant but has now been handed the reins as Norwich look to end the season on a more stable note, currently sitting 14th in the table.
Wilshere’s coaching debut at senior level promises two emotional reunions. First up is a match against Middlesbrough, who are managed by his former on-pitch rival Michael Carrick. The real spotlight, however, will fall on the final-day clash with Cardiff City, where the opposing bench will be led by Aaron Ramsey—Wilshere’s former teammate at Arsenal.
Cardiff, like Norwich, have also undergone a recent coaching change, with Ramsey taking over on an interim basis following the dismissal of Erol Bulut. Both clubs have had underwhelming campaigns, but the narrative of two former Arsenal midfielders—now rookie coaches—meeting on the touchline adds a fascinating subplot to the close of the Championship season.
For Wilshere, this marks his first opportunity as a senior team manager, having previously worked within Arsenal's youth setup. While it’s unclear whether Norwich will consider him for a permanent role, these final matches will give the club and fans a glimpse of his potential in the dugout.
