Jamal Musiala is expected to continue his career after being diagnosed with brief, treatable absence seizures, with Bayern saying doctors have cleared him to play.

Jamal Musiala is expected to continue playing football despite the worrying scenes that saw him lose consciousness twice in the space of four days during Bayern Munich's pre-season matches.
The 23-year-old collapsed during games against RB Leipzig and Heidenheim, prompting serious concern about his health and his immediate future on the pitch. Musiala has since explained publicly that doctors diagnosed him with brief, temporary and treatable absence seizures linked to a neurological dysfunction.
Musiala stressed that he is receiving specialist medical care and said doctors do not currently believe the condition creates an additional health risk. He also made clear that he wants to continue playing football while undergoing treatment and regular neurological monitoring.
The Bayern midfielder wrote that the episodes can explain what happened against Leipzig and Heidenheim and that he remains optimistic about managing the condition.
"I have been diagnosed with temporary, short-term but easily treatable absences, which can be traced back to a neurological dysfunction," Musiala explained in his statement.
Medical specialists have also suggested that Musiala's symptoms are consistent with a form of absence epilepsy, although a precise diagnosis depends on neurological examinations and the circumstances of the individual patient. German reports have stressed that such conditions are generally treatable and often require continuous medical management.
For Bayern, the crucial question is whether Musiala is safe to continue competing at the highest level.
According to DPA, the club currently sees no evidence that his career is at risk. Bayern sources have indicated that specialists have cleared Musiala to continue playing, while honorary president Uli Hoeness has also said there is no indication that the diagnosis will prevent him from remaining at the highest level.
That does not mean Bayern will ignore the incidents. Musiala is expected to remain under close neurological supervision, with further tests and treatment forming an important part of the process.
The priority will be to determine exactly what triggers the episodes, how frequently they occur and which treatment provides the safest long-term solution.
Musiala himself has insisted that continuing with his normal life and playing football is part of the approach agreed with specialists. Bayern have also backed their player and his medical team.
Attention now turns to Bayern's next competitive fixture against Borussia Dortmund in the German Super Cup.
Whether Musiala will be included in the squad has not yet been definitively confirmed. His involvement will depend on the latest medical assessment and the decision made by Bayern's doctors and coaching staff.
What is already becoming clearer is that there is currently no expectation that Musiala will have to end or suspend his career for an extended period because of the diagnosis.
The two incidents were frightening, but the information released since then has been far more encouraging. Musiala remains under specialist care, treatment is available and Bayern currently expect one of their most important players to continue his career.
