Bayern Munich is facing a significant challenge in contract talks with Jamal Musiala, one of their brightest young stars. Despite months of negotiations, the two sides have been unable to reach an agreement, primarily due to disagreements over the inclusion of a release clause in the 21-year-old’s contract.
Musiala’s current deal runs until 2026, but Bayern is eager to extend and secure his future amid interest from top Premier League clubs, particularly given his English background. However, Musiala’s representatives are reportedly pushing for a €175 million release clause, a figure Bayern is reluctant to accept.
While the amount would set a Bundesliga transfer record, Bayern recognizes that it is not an insurmountable sum for Europe’s wealthiest clubs. This has made the club cautious, fearing they could lose their prized asset in the near future.
In addition to Musiala, Bayern is also struggling to finalize an extension with Alphonso Davies, whose contract expires in June 2024, creating further pressure on the club’s management to resolve these critical negotiations.
For now, the release clause remains a sticking point, as Musiala’s camp aims to keep potential exit doors open, most likely for a future move to England, while Bayern seeks to maintain control over the young star’s destiny.
