Japan dismantled Tunisia 4-0 to secure a crucial victory and eliminate the North Africans, who left the World Cup after conceding nine goals in two matches.

Japan delivered one of the most dominant performances of the World Cup so far, crushing Tunisia 4-0 in Monterrey and sending the African side out of the tournament after only two matches.
The victory lifted Japan to four points in Group F and put them in a strong position ahead of a decisive final-round clash with Sweden. Tunisia, meanwhile, became the first team officially eliminated from the group after suffering back-to-back heavy defeats.
Following a 5-1 loss to Sweden in their opening match, Tunisia needed a response. Instead, they conceded four more goals and now leave the competition with a devastating 1:9 goal difference.
Japan set the tone almost immediately. In the fourth minute, Keito Nakamura burst forward on a counterattack and delivered a dangerous ball across goal, where Daichi Kamada applied the finishing touch to give the Asian side an early lead.
The goal opened the floodgates. Japan controlled possession, dictated the tempo, and pinned Tunisia deep inside their own half. The North Africans struggled to build attacks and rarely threatened goalkeeper Zion Suzuki.
The second goal arrived in the 30th minute when Ayase Ueda collected the ball outside the penalty area and fired a precise low shot beyond the Tunisian goalkeeper.
Any hopes of a comeback disappeared after the break.
Japan continued to dominate and produced the move of the match in the 69th minute. Ueda split the defence with a brilliant first-time pass, allowing Junya Ito to race through and calmly make it 3-0.
Ueda then completed a memorable evening in the 84th minute, heading home from a cross by Kaishu Sano to score his second goal and seal a comprehensive victory.
The striker finished with two goals and an assist and left the pitch to a standing ovation after one of the standout individual performances of the tournament.
For Tunisia, the defeat capped a miserable campaign. A coaching change after the opening-round humiliation against Sweden failed to produce any improvement, and the team never looked capable of competing with Japan's pace, movement, and technical quality.
Omar Rekik, the Maribor defender, started and completed both World Cup matches for Tunisia, marking the biggest stage of his career so far. Unfortunately, he was part of a defensive unit that conceded nine goals across the two defeats.
Performance ratings reflected Tunisia's struggles. Rekik received a modest rating of 5.9, while fellow defenders Mohamed Talbi and Dylan Bronn also endured difficult evenings as Japan repeatedly exposed gaps in the back line.
Japan now looks ahead with confidence, while Tunisia leaves the World Cup searching for answers after one of the most disappointing campaigns of the tournament.
