Enzo Fernandez's future is shaping up to be one of the biggest transfer stories of the summer, with his agent Javier Pastore confirming that work is already underway behind the scenes to assess the midfielder's options after the World Cup.

Pastore, the former Argentina international and ex-Paris Saint-Germain star, revealed that discussions about Fernandez's future have begun, although he stressed that no agreement has been reached and the player's full attention remains on Argentina's World Cup campaign.

Speaking to Spanish newspaper Marca, Pastore explained that football matters outside the national team are currently on hold.

"Enzo is only thinking about the national team. He is playing in the World Cup and wants to go as far as possible with Argentina. Meanwhile, we are studying the possibility of his leaving Chelsea, but at the moment there is nothing concrete, and nothing confirmed."

The Chelsea midfielder has repeatedly been linked with a move to Real Madrid, where he is viewed as one of Europe's elite midfielders and a potential cornerstone of the club's future.

While Pastore stopped short of confirming negotiations with the Spanish giants, he admitted that Madrid is naturally an attractive destination.

"He has a lot of friends in Madrid, including Julian Alvarez. I live there myself, so the city naturally attracts him. But honestly, who doesn't like Madrid?"

Fernandez has once again established himself as one of Argentina's most influential players during the World Cup, although his responsibilities vary depending on the tactical demands of each match.

Pastore believes that adaptability is one of the 25-year-old's greatest qualities.

"Enzo has improved enormously over the last few years. He can play as an attacking midfielder or as a central midfielder arriving into the box. For Argentina, he usually starts deeper, but he is often the midfielder who breaks forward to support Lionel Messi. He adapts to every role without any difficulty."

With Argentina still chasing World Cup glory, Fernandez's transfer future has temporarily taken a back seat. Once the tournament ends, however, the race for one of Europe's most complete midfielders is expected to accelerate.

If Chelsea ultimately agrees to sell, Fernandez is likely to become one of the most sought-after players on the market, with Real Madrid expected to remain among the clubs most closely monitoring his situation.
