At 38 years old, Jesus Navas has decided to end his international career.
Despite attempts by Spain’s coach Luis de la Fuente to convince him to stay on after winning the European Championship, the veteran has recognized that it’s time to say goodbye. Navas announced his retirement from the Spanish national team today, concluding a remarkable 15-year journey.
Navas’s departure is marked by a glorious farewell—winning the European Championship. Over his illustrious career, he has become the most decorated Spanish international player. During his 15 years with the national team, Navas won the 2010 World Cup, the 2012 and 2024 European Championships, and the 2022/2023 Nations League.
At the club level, Navas currently plays for Sevilla, where he returned in 2017 after a four-year stint with Manchester City. It is expected that he will soon bid farewell to his beloved Andalusian club as well.
Throughout his club career, Navas has also amassed numerous trophies. He won the Europa League four times with Sevilla, was a two-time Copa del Rey winner, secured the UEFA Super Cup, and with Manchester City, he won the Premier League and the League Cup.
