Joan Laporta has been re-elected Barcelona president after winning more than 68 percent of the vote, defeating Víctor Font and securing a fourth term leading the Catalan club.
Joan Laporta will remain president of FC Barcelona after winning the club’s latest election with a commanding majority.
The leader of the Defensem el Barça list received 32,934 votes, which represents 68.18 percent of support from the club’s members.
The result confirms that Laporta will lead Barcelona for the fourth time in the club’s history.
His main rival, Víctor Font, collected 14,385 votes, equal to 29.78 percent of the total, while 984 ballots were declared invalid or blank.
Laporta first became president of Barcelona in 2003 and remained in charge until 2010, overseeing one of the most successful eras in the club’s history.
He returned to the presidency in 2021, when he won the election with 54.28 percent of the vote, taking control during a period of financial and sporting uncertainty.
Five years later, the members once again placed their trust in him with an even stronger mandate.
After the results were confirmed, Laporta expressed strong confidence about the club’s future.
"This is a decisive victory that gives us great strength. We are unstoppable. No one will stop us. We have exciting years ahead of us — the best of our lives," he said.
The president also highlighted the democratic structure of the club, which remains one of the defining elements of Barcelona.
"This is a wonderful club, where the members elect the president and the board. A club that is unique in the world, truly exceptional," Laporta added.
He also thanked the members who participated in the vote and the staff who organized the election process.
"I would like to single out the members who came to vote. It was a celebration of democracy and civic spirit. I also want to praise the executive and the employees for the excellent organization of election day."
Born on 29 June 1962 in Barcelona, Laporta is a lawyer by profession and a long-time member of the club.
With another electoral victory behind him, he now begins a new chapter leading Barcelona as the club continues its efforts to strengthen both its financial stability and sporting ambitions.
